The chief financial officer of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation says he's leaving that post early next year to pursue other interests.
The Seattle Times reports that Alexander Friedman made the announcement Monday in an e-mail to colleagues at the philanthropic foundation. A former investment banker, Friedman said he most likely would return to the private sector, but also is considering nonprofit and government work.
