The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former President George W. Bush has arrived in Switzerland to recuperate from his time in prison and launch a foundation to help civilian war victims in Iraq.

A Swiss lawyer for Muntadhar al-Zeidi says the TV reporter arrived Tuesday in Geneva on a three-month tourist visa.

Al-Zeidi shot to fame last December when he hurled his shoes toward Bush shouting "this is your farewell kiss, you dog."

Mauro Poggia says his client will rest and seek dental treatment for an injury he suffered in custody in Iraq. Al-Zeidi spent nine months in jail.

The lawyer says al-Zeidi also plans to travel the Alpine country to promote a new human rights group for Iraqi civilians.
