German teenagers have created about 1,000 oversized, colorful dominos to rebuild the Berlin Wall 20 years after it collapsed.

Berlin Mayor Klaus Wowereit said that while people were initially skeptical of the idea of rebuilding the wall with 7.5 foot high plastic foam dominoes, they now think "it's a wonderful way to have people join the action." The Nov. 9 anniversary will also be marked with speeches, concerts and visits by foreign leaders.

Organizer Moritz van Duelmen, director of Kulturprojekte Berlin, said Wednesday the idea was to "make history according to the domino theory."

The dominoes will be placed along the former course of the wall on Nov. 7 and toppled two days later.
