Denver police arrested an elementary school employee accused of taping a student's mouth and hands.

Police say 45-year-old administrator Jennifer Carter was being held Monday for investigation of child abuse and false imprisonment, both misdemeanors. A jail official said a bond amount had not yet been set.

Carter was put on leave following the alleged incident Wednesday at Palmer Elementary School. It was unknown if she had an attorney.

Denver Public Schools released a statement Monday calling the alleged conduct inexcusable and saying the district is taking action to fire Carter.

The student's name and age were not released. The boy's mother told KMGH-TV last week that her son was taped after he was sent to the principal's office for misbehaving in class.
