"Dateline NBC," the signature primetime broadcast for NBC News, premiered in 1992. Since then, it has pioneered a new approach to primetime news programming. The multi-night franchise, supplemented by frequent specials, allows NBC to consistently and comprehensively present the highest-quality reporting, investigative features, breaking news coverage and newsmaker profiles.
Lester Holt is the principal anchor. Leading NBC News talents such as Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams, Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Al Roker, Kate Snow, Natalie Morales and Lisa Myers contribute to some of the editions. The broadcast also features the esteemed, award-winning correspondents Hoda Kotb, Josh Mankiewicz, Keith Morrison, Dennis Murphy and Andrea Canning.
The flexibility of "Dateline NBC" allows for multi-part features, hour-long documentaries devoted to single subjects, as well as a series of continuing reports. The program has consistently brought Americans in-depth coverage of breaking news, including the events of Sept. 11, Hurricane Katrina, the Tsunami in southeast Asia, the Virginia Tech shootings, the funerals of Ronald Reagan and Princess Diana, the crash of JFK Jr.'s plane, the Columbine shootings, the war in Kosovo, the crash of an Alaska Airlines plane and the crash of the Air France Concorde.
Recent awards include "Bitter Pills"; a Edward R. Murrow Award for breaking news coverage reported by Meredith Vieira on the Colorado shooting; a Peabody for Hoda Kotb's report on the life of a first year teacher in the Teach for America program, "The Education of Ms. Groves"; and the prestigious Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award for breaking news and sustained coverage of Hurricane Katrina and the impact of the storm, along with "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams."
"Dateline NBC" is a production of NBC News' Peacock Productions. David Corvo is the senior executive producer. Liz Cole is the executive producer.
