A 17-year-old who Houston police say admitted hiring a friend to kill his mother has denied involvement in the stabbing death.
Police say Danish Minhas told investigators he hired 18-year-old Nur J. Mohamed to kill his mother because she was too controlling. Police say both teens confessed.
But in a jailhouse interview, Minhas told the Houston Chronicle that he gave the statement to police "out of necessity" and pointed the finger at Mohamed alone. Mohamed declined to be interviewed.
Minhas called police Nov. 25 to say he found his 43-year-old mother fatally stabbed.
Police say Danish Minhas objected to rules that included having to be home by a certain hour and having to do chores.
Minhas told the newspaper he misses his mother.
