“When it comes to photographs, I’m a nut,” said Connie Rains, the Buies Creek, N.C.-resident who submitted the top-rated image in this week’s It’s A Snap! travel photo contest.
Rains recalled the sun “trying to come out” during her 2004 trip to the Canadian Rockies, changing the color of the Moraine Lake with every moment.
She was the last person in the group down the trail to return to the bus. “My husband was furious.”
Her husband got over it, but the couple’s 11-day trip that took them through Canada’s Banff National Park has certainly stayed with them.
“It’s the most beautiful place we’ve been. I’ve never seen so many mountain formations,” Rains said.
The well-traveled Rains have seen plenty of places, too, including Tahiti and Bora Bora last year and the Mediterranean just last fall.
The pair might even return to the source of such beauty.
“I don’t do repeats normally, but I’d do Canada and Hawaii.”
