Msnbc.com is looking for an experienced editor for its news team who thrives on breaking news and excels in a fast-paced online newsroom.
This position calls for an editor who can quickly gather information from multiple sources and assemble compelling stories under deadline pressure. Knowledge of national and international news is important. Traditional journalism skills are crucial, along with a desire to move beyond text to tell stories interactively. This position requires a team player who can collaborate well. Some design experience also is a plus, and experience with desktop computer applications is necessary.
The best candidate will be able to work with editorial content from our television and print partnerships, keep our news sections fresh and accurate, collaborate with editors in newsrooms on opposite coasts and in Europe, edit and write copy, create compelling headlines and captions, organize multimedia and make sound news judgments. Job requires a college degree and more than five years of experience in a serious newsroom. This position is located in New York City.
