david
, let's start, the
2010
best value
. what did you guys find?
>>
in terms of
best value
, it was both the
honda fit
and the
toyota prius
. which both offer the most bank for the buck in many ways. they're both very good vehicles, good reliability. their cost of vehicle ownership is relatively low. at the end of the day you're going to get the most for the money out of those two vehicles.
>>
we put it up there. the wagon
mini van
you guys found the best, the hon day elantra, how come?
>>
very quiet, very comfortable, very relaxing car. you get standard
stability control
, a wonderful safety feature.

tell us about the
2010
worst values.
>>
when you
>>
when you look at the worst values, it tends to be sort of suvs and other sort of off-road vehicles that really don't have the reliability. they're expensive to repair. the insurance costs are relatively high. most importantly when you look at the value, half the value lose in the vehicle is due to depreciation. so the so these vehicles depreciate much faster than other models do.
>>
the best call over all, the lexus ls460l. why was this one out in front?
>>
the
lexus ls460
is just a wonderful car. so comfortable. quiet. the interior controls, it has many safety db many electronic features on it. but they're easy to use. some sort of luxury cars have these multifunction units that make it very difficult to go from one thing to the other. the lexus is very easy, very intuitive to drive. and it actually gets 21
miles per gallon
which is excellent for a big car like that.
>>
all right,
david
champion who's senior director of
consumer reports
' auto test division. than thank you very much. good to see you.
