"Ya think I'll get the girl". Showing his stuff at a ranch just NE of Mazatlan, Mexico.

Bob and Sherry Rheaume, of Longview, Wash., have been traveling to Mazatlán every year since 1999. The 72-year old retired construction electrician and his wife vacation there for extended periods of time, anywhere from a month to three months at a time.

"The draw is the people, they are wonderful,” said Rheaume. “What makes it great is that it’s not as high-priced as tourist towns like Puerto Vallarta and Cancun. It's a large town, and exciting, but very safe.”

While on a four-week visit this January, the Rheaumes headed out for a day trip into the countryside towards the small mountain town of El La Noria, just 40 minutes northeast of Mazatlán.

“These little communities are away from the main city, but clean, and the people live simply,” said Rheaume.

On their way, the couple stopped at a ranch in Los Mochis, where Rheaume snapped the top-rated image in this week’s It’s A Snap photo contest.

“It’s hard to catch a good picture (of peacocks) because they quiver and shake their feathers. I got this right as he was still.”

Rheaume captured the stunning shot with a Canon Powershot Pro 1.

“It's neat to have your health, a partner to share it with — we’ve been married for 51 years — good friends, and a bit of money to enjoy all of the above.”
