“It’s great to work where people go on vacation,” said Teagan Tomlin, of her summer experience working as an interpretive park ranger at Montana’s Glacier National Park.

Originally from Felton, Calif., Tomlin has been traveling around for the past decade for school and summer work, but now lives in Calgary, Canada where she’s working towards her Ph.D in Geography at the University of Calgary.

Tomlin’s image of an early morning view of Lake MacDonald in Glacier National Park, is the top-rated image in this week’s It’s A Snap photo contest.

The 28-year old Geology graduate of Brigham Young University, snapped the winning shot on her first internship in 2008, and now spends every summer as a ranger, this upcoming season being her third.

“That morning, I was on my way to work, I was running late — but it was so gorgeous, I had to pull over and take a picture”, Tomlin said.

Tomlin’s advice for Glacier National Park visitors: Don’t rush. “Take the time to pull over and just look. It’s so easy to rush through a national park and miss things.”

Tomlin says this summer would be a great time to visit as the park marks 100 years with Centennial activities and celebrations.

Tomlin captured the winning shot with a Nikon Coolpix L4.
