We are looking for a Web Designer Intern for our Redmond, WA location.


A successful applicant will be competent in two of the following four skills areas:

Graphic Design:

  • Strong understanding of typography, color, and composition
  • Create branding and graphic treatments for news packages and features
  • Produce promotional elements for online and broadcast use
  • Optimize graphics for the web

Page Layout and Styling:

  • Experience with HTML and CSS
  • Adapt grids and site styles for new uses
  • Recognize and troubleshoot cross-browser compatibility issues
  • Create wireframes and detailed mock-ups for presentation of concepts to stakeholders

Interaction Design:

  • Understanding of interactive design principles and usability
  • Demonstrated ability to organize information and design intuitive interfaces
  • Conceptualize dynamic features and applications that use client-side scripting technologies
  • Adapt and troubleshoot client-side scripts (Javascript, Actionscript)
  • Communicate information architecture and interaction design plans via user flow diagrams

Information Visualization:

  • Deconstruct complex topics into logical, visual explanations
  • Analyze and present data in ways that enable quick and easy comprehension 
  • Design and produce intuitive infographics with multimedia technologies such as Flash or Silverlight
  • Experience with cartography, 3D modeling, animation, or motion graphics a plus
