The University of Connecticut says 97 percent of its medical students were placed in residencies this year, mostly in the Northeast.
The students at UConn's School of Medicine were among more than 37,000 nationwide who learned of their assignments Thursday on "Match Day."
UConn says 35 percent will enter primary care residencies, mostly internal medicine and pediatrics. The rest will go into emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and psychiatry.
Fifty-four of the 75 students won spots in the Northeast, including 16 in Connecticut.
About 93 percent of medical students win residencies annually. They are matched through a national program that considers their training, preferences and positions available at U.S. teaching hospitals.
