Msnbc.com honored for business coverage

Msnbc.com’s business coverage has been honored with three (and a half) awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.

SABEW, the leading business journalism association, recognized the following msnbc.com people and projects:

Allison Linn, Jim Seida and Shannon Dell in the online enterprise category for “.” Linn and Seida traveled to the Phoenix area to interview auto dealers at the nadir of the industry's downturn, as sales were plummeting and the industry was seeking a bailout in Washington.  Linn produced a compelling text piece, Seida shot the companion video piece and Dell edited the video.

Eve Tahmincioglu for online columns, " ." Tahmincioglu is a contributing writer who originated the weekly "Your Career" column  in 2006. She also has her own blog, CareerDiva.net.

Vu Nguyen, John Schoen and Bill Dedman, in partnership with Moody's Economy.com, were recognized for creative use of online media for their efforts to create the .

The monthly index, developed after the financial industry collapse in late 2008, tracks economic conditions in 384 metro areas and all 50 states. The map allows users to check conditions in any part of the country, including historical conditions going back 15 years.

Oh, and that half-award? American University's Investigative Reporting Workshop was recognized for its BankTracker project in the creative use of online category. That quarterly project, measuring the health of thousands of banks and credit unions, is published in conjunction with msnbc.com. You can check it out here.
