Story page discuss slice test scenarios

  • Leadin text (story abstract) renders
  • Button "Leave your comment" with user's profile pic to the right (or generic Newsvine profile pic if user is no logged in). The button links to the discussion page on Newsvine. The profile pic links to the user's Newsvine profile page.
  • Drawer does not render
  • Ad break does not render
  • If Discuss is first slice, header does not render -

3 Comments or fewer -

  • Header renders the "Comment" icon (except when first slice - )
  • Header text is "Discuss: Headline of story goes here"
  • "#comments, highest rated comments below" renders in the header, aligned right. The "# of comments" text links to the Newsvine discussion page.
  • Leadin text (story abstract) renders under the header
  • Comments :
    . . . Profile pic from commenting user is aligned left
    . . . First two lines of the comment is displayed
    . . . If comment exceeds two lines, "Expand" button is active and aligned right within the comment container, down arrow is active
    . . . If comment field is opened, "Collapse" button is active and aligned right within the comment container, up arrow is active
    . . . If the comment is less than 2 lines the "Expand" and up arrows are both inactive. -
  • Profile name of commenting user renders under the comment box, aligned left, and is linked to the commenter's newsvine profile page.
  • Timestamp of the comment appears to the right of the user's profile name (not implemented yet)
  • If the comment has been "rated up" in Newsvine, the number of ratings is displayed with the 'thumbs-up' graphic to the right of the number of ratings.
  • The links "Reply" (with a blue discuss icon to the right) and "Report" (with blue exclamation icon) appear under the comment box, aligned right.  ("Report" not active implemented yet)
  • Two buttons render below the last comment box:
    . . . "View all ## comments"
    . . . "Leave your comment" The user's profile picture sits to the right of this button. If the user is not logged in, the generic Newsvine user picture is rendered.
  • Drawer does not render
  • Ad break does not render

All of the items listed above in 3 Comments or fewer, with the following changes:

  • Drawer is added after both the third comment and the "View all..." / "Leave your comment" buttons. The tab text "Show more comments" and a down arrow
  • The remaining comments are in the drawer

4 or more comments, drawer opened:  - All of the items in 3 Comments or fewer, with the following changes:

  • the drawer tab text changes to "Hide discussion" with an up arrow to the right
  • An ad break renders after the 4th comment
  • The "Most active discussions" promo area displays as the last item in the Discuss drawer. Each discussion promo contains
    . . . The headline of the active discussion, linked to the discussion page in Newsvine
    . . . The number of "rated-up" votes the discussion has received
    . . . The number of comments the discussion has received

Ad packages (These will affect the render only if the Discuss slice is the first slice on the page)

  • Tier 1 - , ROS - . . . The ad break will appear after the 7th comment. If there are less than seven comments (and more than 3 comments) the ad break will render after the last comment, and before the "View all ## comments" / "Leave your comments" buttons.

Add a comment test

  • While logged in to Newsvine, view the comments on this page
  • Click the "Leave your comment" button in the discuss slice (which should take you  to the related Newsvine page
  • Add a comment and click "Post Comment"
  • Navigate back to the original msnbc.com page and refresh.
  • Your comment should be at the bottom of the comments list.
