The deal: Featuring the best recession buster since the tax refund, Hawaiian Airlines welcomed a brand-new partner to their Hawaiian Miles promotion.
The AAA Four-Diamond Kapalua Resorton Maui now awards visitors flier miles when they stay at the fabulous Kapalua Gold Villas — and at a thrifty $209/night and up, why would we stay anywhere else? Guests of the Gold Villas receive 150 miles per night and an additional 2,000 miles for stays three nights or longer (2,450 totaling miles for a long weekend).
Acquired miles can be redeemed on Hawaiian Airlines, Delta, Continental, and Virgin Atlantic flights, which start at 7,500 one way within the Hawaiian archipelago, with additional routes to the mainland U.S., Australia, Tahiti, and more.
Flier points can also be exchanged for gift certificates at Outrigger Hotels & Resorts, OHANA Hotels & Resorts, or affiliated properties in Hawaii, which are applicable to the room rate, deposit, or room charges, starting at $25 for 5,000 miles earned. Supplementary non-flight awards include car rentals, casino gaming chips, and rounds of golf with participating partners and properties.
The dollars: Required flight mileage and rules concerning point earnings may fluctuate at any time, without notice.
The catch: Points expire within 18 months if the membership idles, but can be reinstated for a fee.
