Gas drops 9-plus cents in two weeks

The average price of regular gasoline in the United States has dropped 9.25 cents over a two-week period to $2.83.

That's according to the national Lundberg Survey of fuel prices released Sunday.

Analyst Trilby Lundberg says the average price for a gallon of mid-grade was $2.97. Premium was at $3.08.

Jackson, Miss., had the lowest average price among cities surveyed at $2.62 a gallon for regular. San Francisco was highest at $3.10.

Diesel was at $3.09, down 5.56 cents from two weeks ago.

In California, the average price for a gallon of regular dropped 6.85 cents to $3.05.

Bakersfield had the state's least expensive gas at $3.00 a gallon.
