Anyone still harboring illusions that “Quit Facebook Day” on May 31 will make even a scratch on the universal consciousness of cyberspace is in for a rude awakening with the release of Google’s Ad Planner stats. Topping the list of most 1,000 visited sites on all Internet is… wait for it … Facebook.

The ubiquitous social network clocks in with a stunning 570 billion page views and 540 million users on the monthly list that excludes Google and Google-owned property YouTube. What’s more, Facebook takes in an estimated 35 percent of Web traffic and has more page views than the next 99 sites on the list combined.

Earlier this month, industry blog Inside Facebook reported that the social network’s international status doubles every month. “Facebook’s growth rate accelerated by at least 25 percent in 47 countries in one recent quarter. Its quarterly growth rate more than doubled in 28 of those countries.”
