Director of Site User Interface (Redmond, WA)

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  Lead a team that mocks up, builds and helps maintain page templates, navigational components and other UI elements on company’s core news website.  Facilitate brainstorming around requirements with stakeholders from editorial, marketing, sales and technology.  Set success criteria that considers all available research.  Supervise the design of new components and navigation elements for broad use inside page templates.  Responsible for troubleshooting design, layout and style problems quickly.

REQUIREMENTS:  Employer will accept Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Communications, Journalism, Social Sciences or related field, followed by five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a designer, front-end web developer or related occupation.  Education or experience must include:

1) Managing web-based design or technical projects such as software documentation projects;

2) Web technologies including, Javascript, HTML, CSS;

3) Usability and user interface design;

4) Photoshop;

5) Content management systems; and 6) Writing cross-browser, standards-based XHTML/CSS markup.
