    >>> and an important piece of art missing, reportedly found, now officials say it's still gone. we're talking about the mystery surrounding vincent van gogh 's poppy flowers stolen from an egyptian museum yesterday. tazeen ahmed joins me. can you explain this?

    >> this painting is around a $55 million around living in a mahmoud khalil museum. at some point yesterday it was snatched and egypt's minister faro farouk hosni said they recovered it. today he's saying they got it all wrong, one of his colleagues gave him false and incorrect information so he's doing a complete back track. beyond that it's not really clear how they managed to get it badly wrong. police have been questioning visitors and the staff of the museum and looked through security camera footage. a police official said thieves are expected to take the painting outside the country. the search for the kansas is intensifying.

    >> going back and forth, it's stolen, we found it, no, it's still stolen, what are they saying about that?

    >> well, they're saying, i mean they must be embarrassed. they need to sort this chaos and confusion out. there is pressure to get this piece of art back. it's valuable and made it in 1887 , special, art historians say it represents a turning point in van gogh 's painting. the mahmoud khalil holds other works of arts by famous artists like monet. they will be wanting to get this back as soon as they can to show the security isn't lax. this isn't the first time it's been stolen. last time in 1978 and it took two years before it was recovered again in kuwait.

    >> to have this happen. okay. tazeen ahmad thanks so much.
