The wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs in New York's Hudson Valley, police said.

The arrest comes one month after Mary Kennedy's license was suspended following her guilty plea to driving while impaired by alcohol. However, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported that she was allowed to drive under certain circumstances.

State police said Kennedy initially was pulled over Saturday for speeding on the Taconic State Parkway in Dutchess County.

Kennedy told police she was headed to a yoga class, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported. The paper said that she allegedly had been driving 82 mph.

WNBC reported that officers suspected that Kennedy was under the influence of prescription medication.

Kennedy's lawyer, Kerry Lawrence, told The Journal News, "We look forward to defending the charges against Miss Richardson Kennedy."

Mary Kennedy is scheduled to appear in Pleasant Valley Town Court on Thursday.

She settled her drunken-driving case from May without jail time by pleading guilty last month to a lesser charge.
