EVERETT, Wash., Aug. 31, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Cascade Bank, the principal operating subsidiary of Cascade Financial Corporation (Nasdaq:CASB), announced today that it will host three volunteer sites as part of United Way of Snohomish County's annual Day of Caring event. Cascade will host sites in Snohomish, Skagit and King Counties on two different days in September. Cascade has participated in United Way's Snohomish County Day of Caring events for more than 10 years and has hosted events in King and Skagit Counties for the past three.

Cascade has chosen Little Red Schoolhouse in Everett as the location for its Snohomish County volunteer event on September 24. Cascade employees will be doing maintenance work inside and out of the schoolhouse, which offers early education to infants and toddlers with disabilities or developmental delays. The Bank's King County event, also to be held on September 24, will benefit Food Lifeline in Shoreline. Employees will sort, package and distribute collected food items to benefit community members in need. In Skagit County, employees will clean cabins, pick up litter and landscape Camp Kirby on Samish Island on September 10. Camp Kirby offers specialty camps for burn victims and various other non profit groups.

"Cascade employees continue with their enthusiastic participation in the Day of Caring," said Carol K. Nelson, Cascade Bank president and CEO. "We are pleased to host three separate Day of Caring events with United Way in the communities where our employees live and work."

More than 40 Cascade employees are expected to volunteer in this year's Day of Caring efforts, which serve as the kick-off for the Bank's participation in the United Way's annual 'Live United' campaign. Last year Cascade employees donated more than $75,000 to United Way during the eight-week fundraising event.
