"Thanks to the hard work and generosity displayed by employees at the Azusa campus, every student at Mountain View can begin the school year with new pencils, crayons, rulers and many other basic school supplies," said Stephen J. Toner, vice president of Northrop Grumman's Azusa Operations.

A total of 483 pencil boxes were delivered on August 27th.

Mountain View Principal Rita A. Ruminski expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Northrop Grumman employee members of Adelante, a grassroots Employee Resource Group (ERG) for their generosity. "During these times of budget constraints and downward dips in the economy, this community group (Adelante) still managed to put together more than 480 pencil boxes filled to the brim with school supplies," said Ruminski. "There are many happy faces at Mountain View because we have the materials we need. We are ever so grateful."

"Providing students the needed resources early on in the education cycle greatly contributes to their success today," added Toner. "Hopefully by building on this early success, the confidence gained by the students will encourage them to take more of an interest in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields."

The Pencil Box Drive was coordinated by Adelante, an all-inclusive Hispanic ERG committed to fostering leadership through networking, professional development and community outreach.
