DALLAS, Sept. 10, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To commemorate Mexican Independence Day, Burguesa Burger, the Original Mexican Burger, is hosting a celebracion on September 16, 2010. September 16 (diez y seis de Septiembre) is an important date in Mexican history. On that day in 1810, a war for independence began that would eventually free Mexico from Spanish rule. This year is the bicentennial of Mexican Independence Day.

During the Mexican Independence Day celebration, Burguesa is giving away Mexican hot dogs to the first 200 guests at each of the four locations. Mexican hot dogs are bacon-wrapped franks stuffed inside a toasted bun and topped with grilled tomatoes, onions, and jalapenos. Every Mexican hot dog also comes with Burguesa's creamy special sauce. After September 16, Mexican hot dogs will become a permanent fixture on the Burguesa menu.

In addition, Burguesa is giving away a free combo to any guest wearing a sombrero. The free combo can be whatever the customer desires, whether it's a signature La Monumental®, piled high with two beef patties, two slices of cheese, ham, avocado, refried beans, crunchy tostada, lettuce, tomato, onion, and special sauce, or a single-patty hamburguesa. Each combo comes with a choice of spicy or regular fries and a beverage made with pure cane sugar in flavors such as cola, orange, lemon-lime, and grapefruit.

"Since the beginning, Burguesa Burger has been committed to honoring the heritage of our Hispanic patrons, and one way we do that is by celebrating holidays that are important to them," says Jeff Sinelli, founder and chief executive officer of Burguesa Burger. "Mexican Independence Day marks a glorious occasion in Mexico's history. We hope to bring that spirit and excitement to Burguesa Burger."

The Mexican Independence Day celebracion takes place at all four Burguesa locations—three in Dallas-Fort Worth and one in McAllen, Texas.
