MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 14, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE:FHN) has earned its 16th consecutive appearance on the Working Mother 100 Best Companies list. First Horizon was cited for innovative programs that support families, including flextime and education support. First Horizon was named to Working Mother's Hall of Fame last year.

"We are proud to be consistently cited by Working Mother for our employee-focused culture that recognizes the need for a workplace that helps employees balance their work responsibilities and family commitments," said John Daniel, chief human resources officer for First Horizon. "Doing all we can to help our employees achieve this balance is increasingly important as we continue to face a difficult economic environment."

In its 25th year, the Working Mother 100 Best Companies program brings attention to the significant contributions working mothers make to industries and the companies that recognize the importance of tapping this essential labor pool.

"We are pleased to count First Horizon National as one of the 2010 Working Mother 100 Best Companies," said Jennifer Owens, senior director, editorial research & initiatives. "First Horizon's comprehensive support for working moms includes 16 job-guaranteed weeks off when their children are born, as well as college scholarships when it's time for their children to leave the nest."

Companies were selected for the 2010 Working Mother 100 Best Companies list based on an extensive application with more than 600 questions on workforce, compensation, child care, flexibility programs, leave policies and more.  It also surveys the usage, availability and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them.  Seven areas were measured and scored: workforce profile, benefits, women's issues and advancement, child care, flexible work, parental leave and company culture.  For this year's 100 Best, particular weight was given to benefits, flexibility and parental leave.
