An Evening Under the Stars is an annual event sponsored by I Padrini d'Antonello, a group of businessmen who privately support children's causes. Every year, the group honors an individual with its Shining Star award for philanthropic efforts in the community. This year's recipient is Dick Marconi, a distinguished Orange County philanthropist and friend of children.

Event sponsors include Antonello Ristorante, A. Gary Anderson Family Foundation, California Sunset Escrow, Gemini Industries, Harker, Guziak & Sage, TROY Group Inc. and Norco Delivery Services. I Padrini President Windell Stout and long-time Canyon Acres supporter Erin Lastinger will co-chair the event.

Canyon Acres' is known throughout Southern California and beyond for breakthrough programs such as Wraparound and Creating Family Connections (CFC). Wraparound literally helps struggling and at-risk families become "wrapped" by a team of professionals and supportive services, ensuring all children are provided the opportunity to live in safe, stable and healthy homes. CFC searches for and engages long-lost family members of children who otherwise have none, offering a connection that gives children a sense of belonging and hope. CFC finds an average of 12 new family members per child and, since its inception, has helped more than 250 children make over 1600 family connections. This year, Canyon Acres celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Founded in 1955, SLDC is a non-profit school and therapy center, serving children and young adults who have special needs in language, learning, and/or behavior; the Center also includes typically-developing students in Reverse Inclusion classrooms. SLDC students have a broad spectrum of diagnoses, including a high concentration of students with Autism. Students are referred to the Center from more than 45 school districts in Orange, Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties. The Center is certified by the State Department of Education.
