FOSTER CITY, Calif., Oct. 1, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Designed to meet diverse customer requirements, EFI™ (Nasdaq:EFII) today began shipping two Fiery® servers for the new Xerox Color 550/560 Printer. The EX Print Server, powered by Fiery, and the Integrated Fiery Color Server enhance productivity and deliver high color quality through intuitive, easy to use tools and workflows. The EX Print Server with the Xerox Color 550/560 Printer will be on display in the EFI booth (No. 2000) and in the Xerox booth (No. 400 and 600) at GRAPH EXPO, taking place Oct. 3-6 (Chicago's McCormick Place).

"As evident by our long history of powering Xerox presses and printers, Fiery servers continue to be the digital front end of choice for businesses of all sizes," said John Henze, vice president of marketing, Fiery division, EFI. "We're excited to bring these new solutions to the marketplace, providing a 30 percent increase in performance over the previous generation among other stand-out enhancements."

The Fiery server's Smart RIP technology significantly boosts performance by allowing one page to be printed while subsequent pages are being processed, enabling more pages to be printed per hour. To speed up printing processes even more, users have the option to let Fiery Hot Folders and Virtual Printers automate the print submission process, saving time when printing repetitive types of jobs. For end-to-end PDF workflows, the EX Print Server gives users a choice of Adobe CPSI or native PDF workflows with APPE.

In addition to high performance, Fiery servers provide exceptional color to quick printers, commercial printers, in-plant CRDs and creative service organizations. The new Fiery Image Enhance feature improves the output quality of digital photos by applying automatic corrections to optimize each image individually for all Fiery supported file types and on both CMYK and RGB images. Fiery Spot-On ensures the best match of PANTONE® colors and streamlines workflow with standardized corporate color palettes. Other advanced graphic arts tools for proofing, prepress and color management are also available.

Fiery technology is well-known for its intuitive user interfaces and easy to use applications. These new servers operate with the Fiery Command WorkStation® job and device management console, which centralizes the entire print workflow, connecting to all Fiery servers on the network. It eliminates bottlenecks and maximizes engine utilization, raising the productivity and profit potential on every job. In addition, Fiery SeeQuence Impose offers an intuitive imposition tool that automates prepress tasks.

Targeted at the office environment, the Fiery VUE application allows users to easily print professional-looking booklets and other documents by interacting with their document on-screen in 3D to sculpt and then preview exactly how the finished piece will look when printed.
