A Silverton man who learned he was about to be fired has been accused of burning his boss's car.

Police said 33-year-old Stewart Cooper poured gasoline on the 1987 Ford Thunderbird early Saturday and set it on fire, The Statesman Journal reported.

Investigators learned the victim is the suspect's supervisor at a Silverton restaurant and his neighbor.

The Statesman Journal reported that Hooper was taken to the Marion County Jail on charges of arson, criminal mischief and reckless burning.

The Thunderbird and a nearby fence that also caught fire were destroyed, according to The Statesman Journal.

Bail was set at $65,000.
