NEW YORK, Oct. 6, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- One fortunate independent filmmaker will have the opportunity to see their film unfold on one of the largest screens in the country, when Executive Producer Bud Rebel debuts an independent short film prior to the World Premiere screening of his own feature, All Screwed Uplater this month in Rockland County, New York.

All Screwed Up, an award-winning teen comedy also written by Rebel and directed by Neil Stephens, will have its World Premiere on Halloween morning, Sunday, October 31 at 11:30 a.m. at the Lafayette Theatre, 97 Lafayette Avenue in Suffern.
Rebel is also sponsoring his very own Halloween Short Film Contest, whereby filmmakers from all over will be able to submit a five minute short film for screening consideration at the premiere. Mr. Rebel will select a shortlist of top nominees from the entries received. The nominated filmmakers will be advised in advance and invited to attend the festivities. The winning film will be chosen by Mr. Rebel and will be revealed at the October 31st screening, where it will be shown prior to the screening of All Screwed Up. Entries must be no longer than five minutes in length, have a family friendly "Halloween" theme and be in a DVD format. The entries are to be submitted to Budrebel Productions 368 New Hempstead Rd #311, New City, NY 10956 before October 22.
The World Premiere of All Screwed Up is being held in association with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Rockland County, as well as the Rivertown Film Society and Rockland Filmmakers. The premiere and the contest is yet another way that Rebel is attempting to give back to his community, as, in his own words, "I have been especially inspired by the great work of the Rivertown Film Society and Rockland Filmmakers who have sponsored so many wonderful programs in the Rockland County community. It's therefore really exciting to be collaborating with them on this," he says.
All Screwed Up features emerging actress Chyna Layne who also appeared in the Oscar winning film, Precious. The film is a family friendly teen comedy about two high school teenagers - an African American girl (Layne) suffering from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and a Caucasian boy (Jake Waldman), star of the high school basketball team - who mysteriously take on each other's personalities after a close encounter with an unusual 'pet' she orders on the internet. Living in each other's shoes - literally - forces the teens to see life from a different perspective, with funny and touching results that will remind everyone of the awkward teen years and affect audiences of all ages.
Tickets to the screening are in limited supply due to the extremely high demand. Rebel is promising prizes, surprises and a fun filled event for the entire family, all surrounding the spirit of Halloween. He is already looking ahead to future screenings if, as expected, the Lafayette Theater sells out.
