HERNDON, Va., Oct. 7, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Association of Old Crows (AOC) has selected Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) to construct phased educational content to later be used as a basis for professional certification of U.S. government, military and industry professionals in the electronic warfare field.

The program will provide new "crows" with a basis for certifying a professional's mastery of basic electronic warfare, while also measuring the educational progress of entry-level members.

"The AOC chose to work with Northrop Grumman in order to provide a way for military, government and industry professionals to share a common, current, operationally-focused body of knowledge on electronic warfare," said Jesse Bourque, Northrop Grumman technical program manager. "Technical Services has a superb reputation in the world of EW for creating professional courseware."

The program's development will take place in three phases. The first phase serves as a kick-off and will focus on generating interest and regular attendance by participants in operational electronic warfare fields. Phase two will expand the program's offerings through added classified and releasable sessions, while branching out to include related fields and mission areas. The final phase will offer developed content and examinations as a basis for a professional certification program.

The AOC was founded in 1964 as a fraternal organization for electronic warriors.
