DALLAS, Oct. 11, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Storage Networking World -- The Fibre Channel Industry Association (FCIA) today announced that it will exhibit demonstrations around 8GFC (Gigabit Fibre Channel) and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE). Demonstrations will take place in booth #315 at Storage Networking World (SNW), October 11-14 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Dallas, TX.

The FCIA will showcase the synergy between 8GFC and FCoE technology in the data center. This demonstration brings together 11 leading companies including Amphenol, Broadcom, Brocade, Cisco, Emulex, Hewlett-Packard, JDSU, LSI, Molex, NetApp, and QLogic.

"The FCIA is delighted to work in partnership with storage networking leaders in FCoE and 8GFC," said Skip Jones, chairman FCIA. "Today's demonstrations show how Fibre Channel evolution continues to provide data center managers with the flexibility of leveraging their Fibre Channel investments for further cost, space, and power savings by either consolidating their data center IO or by migrating their 4GFC SANs to 8GFC SANs, or as we see in most cases, a mix of doing both as most appropriate for their various applications."

FCoE in the Spotlight

The FCIA will be presenting in the following sessions at SNW:

"I am thrilled to be moderating the FCIA FCoE panel and share firsthand how leading technology companies are delivering FCoE solutions to the market," said David Vellante, Co-Founder, The Wikibon Project. "FCoE is a journey for customers that provide a means of preserving Fibre Channel investments while delivering the efficiencies and performance required for modern, virtualized data centers."

In addition to the aforementioned sessions, The FCIA will be distributing its Fibre Channel Solutions Guide that includes up-to-date information on the benefits of Fibre Channel.
