ORANGE, Calif., Oct. 11, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a Southern California charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, along with Speech and Language Development Center (SLDC), a school and therapy center that assists children and adults with special needs, today announced this year's 'An Evening Under the Stars' netted more than $100,000. Proceeds will benefit Canyon Acres, SLDC and other needy children sponsored by I Padrini d'Antonello. The event took place Sunday, October 3rd at Antonello Ristorante.

An Evening Under the Stars is an annual fundraiser sponsored by I Padrini d'Antonello, a group of businessmen who privately support children's causes. More than 280 guests attended this year's event, which featured a live auction, a live band with dancing, opportunity prizes and a gourmet dinner paired with fabulous wine. Top auction items included a wine package and a Villa Marconi Experience, including lunch for six, a tour of the property and animal park and a choice of an original painting by Dick Marconi himself. Both items sold for $6,000.

In addition, I Padrini honored Orange County philanthropist and friend of children Dick Marconi with its Shining Star Award for philanthropic efforts in the community. Event sponsors included TROY Group, Inc., Dick & Bo Marconi, Antonello Ristorante, A. Gary Anderson Family Foundation, California Sunset Escrow and Harker, Guziak & Sage. I Padrini President Windell Stout and long-time Canyon Acres supporter Erin Lastinger co-chaired the event.

"We are incredibly grateful to I Padrini and our generous donors for their participation at this event," said Tim Bauer, Vice President of Development for Canyon Acres. "Proceeds will bring Canyon Acres and SLDC many steps closer to achieving their mission in our community."
