FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 13, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- At its October national meeting in Dallas, Texas, the Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals ("AICP") named Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky & Abate Partner Richard J. Fidei as General Counsel. In addition to this new position as an AICP national Board of Directors member, Mr. Fidei will concurrently serve as AICP Gulf States Chapter President.

Comprising over 1,500 members in nine chapters from 400 different insurance companies in both the property and casualty, as well as life and health industries, along with insurance regulators from over 30 states, the AICP affords various certification programs, networking and high-level insurance regulatory educational programs to members. Adherence to an insurance compliance industry code of ethics is among the expectations of AICP certified professionals.

During his one-year term as the AICP General Counsel, Mr. Fidei, who has served the AICP in successive leadership roles over the past five years, will assume responsibility for the organization's legal matters, direction and related oversight.  

Responsible for Colodny, Fass, Talenfeld, Karlinsky & Abate's insurance regulatory law division, Mr. Fidei represents insurance and reinsurance companies, brokers and other related entities in a broad spectrum of transactional, compliance, claim and corporate matters. His practice includes all elements of the insurance and reinsurance business, as well as operational issues such as start-up activities, structuring and financing, reinsurance contracts and alternate mechanisms, vendor relationships, regulatory issues and administrative and court proceedings, including administrative supervision, liquidation and insolvency issues.

A member of the Florida and Pennsylvania Bars, Mr. Fidei also holds leadership positions in other national insurance trade associations, including the elite Federation of Regulatory Counsel.
