NORMAN, Okla., Oct. 15, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- University of Oklahoma Price College of Business Associate Professor of Marketing and Supply Chain Management Anthony Roath was recently awarded a Fulbright grant to continue his research titled "Implications of 'Green' Supply Chain Management on the Network's Ability to Compete Globally."

The Fulbright Program was created to increase awareness and understanding between the United States and other countries around the world. Recipients are chosen not only for their academic achievements in their field but also for their potential contribution to the sharing of international ideas and solutions to mutual concerns.

Roath will spend his time at the Manchester Business School in London working with the Sustainable Consumption Institute. "My research will primarily involve examining how international global value chains develop and maintain efficiencies given their access to scarce resources," Roath said, adding that he believes this opportunity will create international alliances and synergies between MBS and OU's Price College of Business.

Roath earned his bachelor of science degree in engineering from the Air Force Academy. He also attended Michigan State University, where he earned his doctorate in marketing and international business and his MBA while working at the Logistics Management Institute researching and studying supply chain solutions for the various government agencies in the Washington, D.C., area. He has spent the past decade at OU teaching undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels in international marketing and logistics management.

Roath's passion for education in his field will now extend past the walls of OU onto an international level. He is excited to utilize his research as a catalyst for change and a generator for new ideas. "The Fulbright is an excellent vehicle for advancing international cooperation and new perspectives; I am just lucky enough to be a part of it," he said.
