WOBURN, Mass., Oct. 25, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LogMeIn (Nasdaq:LOGM) customers will present at two premier higher education conferences this month. Senior IT leaders from the State University of New York College of Technology at Delhi and Lord Fairfax Community College (LFFC) will discuss the benefits of real-time remote support in the academic environment at the 2010 Association for Information Communications Technology Professionals in Higher Education (ACUTA) Fall Seminar and STEMtech 2010.

  • On Monday, Oct. 25 at 1:00 pm EST, Jonathan Brennan, CIO of SUNY College of Technology at Delhi, will present "Maximizing the IT Budget for Success" at the 2010 ACUTA Fall Seminar.

  • On Sunday, Oct. 31 at 8:30 am EST, Richard Crim, Information Technology Strategist and CIO of LFCC, will lead the session, "The New Help Desk: Resolving Any Issue, Anywhere, Anytime" at STEMtech 2010. He'll present again on Monday, Nov. 1 at 4:45 pm EST during a web-based version of the conference, STEMtech Online for participants not physically in attendance.

Crim and Brennan will both discuss their experiences using LogMeIn Rescue, a remote support solution for PCs, Macs and smartphones, to more effectively diagnose and resolve their constituents' technical issues. An on-demand online interface offers support professionals the ability to connect to a computer remotely without pre-installing software to the remote machine. With the user's permission, the technician is then able to see and control the user's machine to quickly configure, diagnose, repair and train.

In addition, LFCC is leveraging LogMeIn's Ignition for iPhone/iPad application as part of its business continuity plan. Ignition ensures that the college's 50 iPhone users have full access to business critical functions—including email, student registration programs, alert systems, security surveillance monitoring, business files and student learning systems—in the event on-campus access is denied.

ACUTA Fall Seminar will focus on the financial issues, as well as network challenges, that IT organizations face. Taking place from Oct. 24-27 at the Sheraton Premiere at Tysons Corner in Vienna, VA, ACUTA strives to support higher education information communications technology (ICT) professionals in contributing to the achievement of the strategic mission of their institution.

Sponsored by the League for Innovation in the Community College, the first annual STEMtech conference will be held Oct. 31 - Nov. 3, 2010 at Orlando's Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. The event will examine how to use information technology to improve success in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and careers, and explore how to leverage information technology to better serve students, campuses and communities.
