SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 2, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Diamond Foods, Inc. (Nasdaq:DMND) announced today that it will continue its support of the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday as a sponsor of the World Series Championship celebration parade through the streets of San Francisco. Diamond has been a core sponsor of the Giants since 2002 and is proud to be taking part in the celebration of San Francisco's first ever World Series championship.

Diamond Foods sells its brands, Diamond peanuts, Emerald snack nuts and sunflower seeds, Pop Secret popcorn and Kettle Brand potato chips at AT&T Park throughout the stadium.  Diamond's four brands are featured on signage in the outfield, on the scoreboard, on cup holders and on electronic boards. Diamond sponsors Emerald and Kettle Day at AT&T Park, and has numerous sampling days each year. Over 3 million people visited AT&T Park this baseball season and all post-season games were broadcast nationally. During the World Series, 12-15 million viewers watched the Giants win each of the first two games of the series at home in AT&T Park.

Diamond Foods' sponsorship of Wednesday's celebratory parade, where hundreds of thousands of fans are expected to converge, gives the company significant brand recognition and sampling opportunities.   The company will participate with its brand mascots with a float and the Diamond team handing out samples and coupons along the parade route. The parade, which follows the same route taken in 1958 to welcome the arrival of the Giants, including Willie Mays, will start at the Transamerica Pyramid, home of Diamond Foods' corporate headquarters.
