PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa., Nov. 16, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Medical Alarm Concepts Holding, Inc. (OTCBB:MDHI), manufacturer of the MediPendant™, the first fully-monitored medical alarm system that allows you to speak and listen directly through the pendant, announced today that it has formed an alliance with security solutions industry leader Sur-Gard™, a Division of Tyco Security Products, in the development of private-label, proprietary signal processing solutions, to be incorporated into its recently announced MediMonitoring™ solution for the home healthcare/hospital industry.

The MediMonitoring™ solution will be designed to be used by various healthcare providers, such as hospitals and large healthcare companies, as well as by small, privatized nursing companies. Many of these providers are aware of the benefits of personal emergency response systems (PERS), and want to provide their patients with the additional service of PERS. This gives their patients added safety and security when they are discharged from the facility and return home, while also providing the patient with peace of mind, knowing that they can get help immediately if needed.

With the MediMonitoring™ solution, healthcare companies will have an integrated software and hardware package that will enable them to provide their own monitoring services to their patients.  The medical alarm will be monitored directly by trained staff members, instead of by independent call center operators.  The result is that the hospital does not have to depend on third party information services for their patients, but instead can now monitor patients/clients directly themselves.

"By offering a complete package incorporating Medical Alarm Concept's MediPendant™, Sur-Gard, and previously announced Micro Key components, we provide a comprehensive mission-critical offering in the medical alarm monitoring market for those institutions seeking to enter this business segment," said Howard Teicher, CEO of Medical Alarm Concepts™.

"Providing a turnkey solution like this, in concert with the expertise of highly experienced and proven partners, will enable us to offer state of the art technology that is exactly what large institutions are looking for going forward," added Steve Beeferman, Director of Home and Healthcare Services.  "Sur-Gard will provide voice signal routing capability to ensure that communication through the MediPendant™ is quickly and accurately routed to the monitoring operator.  Highly effective voice communications are the key to effective emergency medical alarm response systems."
