MCLEAN, Va., Nov. 17, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has collaborated with Educational Testing Service (ETS), Princeton, N.J., to include ETS Formative Assessment Item Banks in Northrop Grumman's Horizon Assessment System, which will offer educators a more comprehensive technology solution for student evaluation.

"The demonstrated expertise of Educational Testing Service will strengthen the Horizon educational assessment technology, further support increasing student achievement and expand opportunities for individual success," said Catherine Kuenzel, vice president of federal mission programs for Northrop Grumman's Civil Systems division.

The collaboration will add ETS-designed assessment questions to Northrop Grumman's Horizon Assessment System, a comprehensive and flexible, Web-based platform designed to help teachers and students gather, understand and utilize student performance data effectively and efficiently to ensure effective learning.

Horizon is currently being used in Fairfax County, Va., Public Schools; Shenandoah County Public Schools in Woodstock, Va.; Prince William Public Schools in Manassas, Va.; Deer Valley Unified School District in Phoenix, Ariz.; Ascension Parish School Board in Donaldsonville, La.; and the New York City Department of Education School of One program.
