REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Nov. 22, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Informatica Corporation (Nasdaq:INFA), the world's number one independent provider of data integration software, announced that Gartner, Inc. has positioned Informatica in the leaders quadrant in the 2010 Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools report1. In June, Informatica was also positioned in the leaders' quadrant in the 2010 Magic Quadrant for Data Quality Tools report2.

According to the authors of the new report, "Leaders in the data integration tools market are front runners in the convergence of single purpose tools into an offering that supports a range of data delivery styles. These vendors are strong in the more traditional data integration patterns. They also support newer patterns and provide capabilities that enable data services in the context of SOA. Leaders have significant mind share in the market, and resources that are skilled in their tools are readily available. These vendors establish market trends, to a large degree, by providing new functional capabilities in their products, and by identifying new types of business problems where data integration tools can bring significant value. Examples of deployments that span multiple projects and types of use case are commonplace in their customer base."

Gartner further defines key trends and developments which had significant impact on the market for data integration tools in 2010 including:

  • Data management operations deployed as data services
  • Convergence of data integration tools and data quality tools markets accelerates
  • Increasing focus on problems and opportunities created by massive data volumes
  • Early-stage interest in the intersection of cloud computing and data integration
  • Customers place a premium on support and service

During the past year, Informatica has further advanced its leadership position in data integration and data quality through:

  • The introduction of the Informatica 9 Platform, expanding functionality around pervasive data quality, SOA-based data services and Business-IT Collaboration that is critical to ensuring success in today's global economy.
  • The acquisition of Siperian in January, a leader in the Master Data Management (MDM) infrastructure technology category to provide a holistic, single view of customers, employees, citizens, locations and products in order to facilitate better operational efficiency, higher customer loyalty and successful compliance efforts.
  • In March, Informatica acquired 29West, a pioneer in Low Latency Messaging technology. With the addition of 29West's zero-latency capabilities, Informatica is providing the industry's first zero-latency data integration platform to address the entire range of data delivery requirements.
  • Informatica announced a partnership with Cloudera to help companies leverage large-scale data. The two companies are delivering the first enterprise-grade integrated platform to manage structured, complex and social data.
  • Informatica unveiled Informatica Cloud 9 a comprehensive offering for cloud data integration, featuring a multi-tenant, enterprise-class data integration platform-as-a-service, new and enhanced cloud offerings and new and expanded Informatica offerings via Amazon EC2.
  • According to 2010 Customer Satisfaction Survey from the independent research firm TNS,for a fifth year in the row, Informatica achieves top marks for customer loyalty for data integration, including 91% of customers stating that they intend to repurchase data integration software from Informatica.

"We are thrilled that Informatica has placed in the leaders quadrant of the Data Integration Tools Report," said Girish Pancha, executive vice president, Data Integration Products, Informatica. "We believe that this placement recognizes Informatica's growth and presence in the market as more and more enterprises standardize on Informatica for their needs in data integration and data quality. We have the most comprehensive data integration platform on the market and the release of Informatica 9 as well as our advances in Cloud, MDM, ILM, B2B, CEP and Ultra Messaging, ensure that Informatica is used for a broad range of business-critical and mission-critical initiatives."
