PHOENIX, Nov. 23, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mitel (Nasdaq:MITL), a leading provider of unified communications (UC) software solutions, today announced that World Wide Metric, a valve and fitting distributor to the maritime and fluid power industry, has chosen to replace disparate aging key systems and PBXs in four U.S. offices with Mitel AnyWare, a cloud-based UC service.

World Wide Metric was looking for a communications solution that would help strengthen its aging voice environment. With most customers contacting them via phone, disaster recovery was an important factor. And with four offices spread across the U.S. the ability to transfer calls between offices and conduct cross-office conference calls were functions the company was unable to do with its legacy systems.

"We thought we wanted to upgrade and standardize on a premises-based platform across all of our sites, but the more we looked at hosted services, the more sense they made," said Theo Contos, president, World Wide Metric. "We don't have any voice expertise on staff and every time we needed to change something on our voice system, we had to place expensive service calls. With Mitel AnyWare we are eliminating these unpredictable costs, because Mitel manages everything, so we don't have to worry about it. Mitel's offering shows they are more than a technology company – they're a business solutions provider. That gives us a lot of confidence."

The company chose to subscribe to Mitel AnyWare which bundles enterprise-class voice and UC applications including resiliency and disaster recovery into an all-inclusive monthly per user subscription. This includes executive class IP phones, unlimited local and long distance, e-911 service, mobile twinning, voicemail with email forwarding, a UC client, eight-party conference calling, and an auto attendant.

Based on Mitel's single, cloud-ready software stream, Mitel AnyWare helps World Wide Metric eliminate the risk of technology obsolescence and benefits from an operational cost model that avoids up-front capital outlays, long depreciation periods, and monthly financing.

"Mitel solutions are designed to give customers the choice in how they deploy their communications applications. With Mitel AnyWare customers such as World Wide Metric can get the combined benefit of added reliability and the ease of a cloud-based model," said Jim Davies, Mitel CTO. "By choosing Mitel AnyWare, World Wide Metric gains the freedom to deliver scalable enterprise-class UC applications to employees, a predictable monthly fee, and around-the-clock customer service support from Mitel."
