Marygrove College Launches New Associate Degree in Health Science

DETROIT, Nov. 23, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Marygrove College today announced that it will begin offering a new Associate of Science in Health Science degree (ASHS). Enrollment for the program has started for classes beginning in January, 2011.

The Associate of Science in Health Science degree has been developed to accommodate the curricular needs of students wishing to pursue careers in Health Science through a career ladder approach that includes certificates, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees and beyond.

This program is in keeping with Marygrove's commitment to serve as an urban leader in Metro Detroit by helping to address the need for well trained health care professionals who will stay in the community and serve the growing health care needs of the area.

Who is eligible?

Licensed Health Care Professionals holding professional certifications and wishing to pursue a degree. Marygrove College will award 24 undergraduate credit hours toward the ASHS to students who have successfully completed LPN or Pharmacy Technician training, and have passed the Practical Nurse License Examination (PNLEX) exam, or the National Pharmacy Technician Certification (NPTC) exam.

What are the benefits of this program?

Increased earning potential and career advancement. Since this is part of a Marygrove career ladder program, students will be able to apply all of their ASHS coursework to a Bachelor of Science in Health Science degree which can result in priority admission to the Oakland University Accelerated BSN program, or prepare students for advanced professional medical education.
