REDWOOD CITY, Calif., Dec. 1, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BroadVision (Nasdaq:BVSN) ( http://www.broadvision.com/ ), a pioneer in e-business and enterprise social networking solutions, today announced the release of Clearvale PaasPort for the telecommunications industry ("telcos"). Similar to the recent announcement that Facebook is integrating email into its vast social networks, Clearvale PaasPort enables telcos to provide their business customers with a unified communications platform – including email, IM and voice – on enterprise social networks. Leveraging Clearvale PaasPort, telcos can solidify their competitive positioning with business customers in an increasingly crowded global telecommunications marketplace that is filled with powerful non-telco players such as Apple, Skype, and Facebook.

"The Facebook Messages announcement was a wake-up call for telcos and other service providers," said BroadVision CMO, Giovanni Rodriguez. "The new UI is the social network, and `unified communications' -- an idea that telcos have been chasing for years -- is almost certainly going to happen on social networks. In the end, this is about who owns the customer experience. More and more, Facebook owns that experience, on the consumer side. But on the enterprise side, the market remains wide open for telcos to make that strategic move."

A major first for the Enterprise 2.0 market, Clearvale PaasPort is a platform-as-a-service solution that enables telcos to host their own "social business cloud" based on BroadVision's Clearvale Enterprise Social Network solution, allowing them to offer Clearvale solutions to their own business customers. Clearvale PaasPort hosts can deliver Clearvale either as-is, as part of a larger package of services, or as a more specialized solution, enabling telcos to provide new, cloud-based enterprise services, expanding their business model beyond the traditional bandwidth and infrastructure out-sourcing.

In addition, PaasPort hosts may customize the Clearvale installation to make it more specific to a particular industry. Third party developers can utilize Clearvale APIs to create people-centric enterprise social applications, which can be provisioned within the Clearvale PaasPort "AppStore" and billed directly by Clearvale PaasPort hosts. With geographical proximity to local markets, telcos as Clearvale PaasPort hosts can provide a compelling Enterprise 2.0 solution to all local businesses and be linked with other Clearvale PaasPort hosts worldwide, forming the Clearvale PaasPort Global Alliance to better serve larger global companies.

Softbank Telecom – the telecommunications giant in Japan – will be using Clearvale PaasPort to provide customers with a number of different premium communication and collaboration services integrated into the new BroadVision ™ Clearvale platform.
