ORANGE, Calif., Dec. 15, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canyon Acres Children and Family Services, a Southern California charity organization committed to providing homes, care, treatment and supportive services for abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children and their families, today announced it has received prestigious grants from Season of Caring presents The Possible Dream Campaign, The Albert and Bettie Sacchi Foundation and The Ueberroth Family Foundation. Total funds are anticipated to exceed $100,000 and will be applied to Creating Family Connections (CFC) and REACH, two of Canyon Acres' signature programs.

"Canyon Acres is incredibly grateful to Season of Caring including The Orange County Register and Festival of Children and the Sacchi and Ueberroth foundations for their generous, long-time support of the agency," said Harald Herrmann, Chairman of the Board for Canyon Acres. "Especially in a time when government funding is less consistent, foundation grants are a tremendous boost as we work to deliver on our mission of providing care, love and hope to the children and families who need it most."

Canyon Acres has been selected as one of eight charities to benefit from the 2010 Season of Caring presents The Possible Dream, a joint effort of The Orange County Register and Festival of Children Foundation. This innovative campaign is funded over the Holiday Season by The Orange County Register's annual Season of Caring and the Orange County community at large. Donations to the campaign go toward helping selected organizations realize their dreams through projects that serve the needs of local youth. The Possible Dream finds, funds and follows the dreams of these children's charities -- from an inspired vision in an Executive Director's mind to a finished project with tangible results. Canyon Acres will apply the grant to its cutting-edge REACH program. An acronym for Responding, Educating, Achieving, Caring and Healing, REACH has the exclusive goal of finding homes for children with special medical needs and/or children who are developmentally disabled.

The Albert and Bettie Sacchi Foundation has been a generous Canyon Acres supporter since 2005. Established in 2004 to help disadvantaged youth and adults, Sacchi this year has committed $25,000 to CFC, which searches for and engages long-lost family members of children who have been in the child welfare system for many years.

The Ueberroth Family Foundation has pledged to help CFC as well, with a 2010 gift of $30,000. A Canyon Acres supporter since 1999, the Ueberroth Foundation supports charities that assist underserved populations. The foundation was established in 1984 by Peter and Virginia Ueberroth.
