LOS ANGELES and SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 15, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Clicker (), the premier programming guide for Internet television, announced today the debut of Clicker Predict, a world-class, proprietary TV and movie recommendation engine, as well as a site-wide Facebook integration. The combination creates an instantly personalized guide to what's worth watching.

In development for nearly a year, Clicker Predict considers more than 50 factors when making entertainment recommendations for each individual user. These factors are constantly updated as a person searches for, rates, discusses, saves, shares and views online programming through Clicker. The Clicker.com homepage now features a personalized feed of shows and movies recommended by Clicker Predict for each individual user, as well as trending online videos and a real-time feed of viewing activity from a person's social circle.  Taken together, Clicker is now a one-stop dashboard that answers the question, "What should I watch today?"

Clicker is also going social by incorporating your Facebook likes and interests into the Clicker Predict engine. Once a user visits Clicker while logged into Facebook, a personalized view into TV and movies will be presented, along with suggestions based on what the person and his or her friends have liked on Facebook and on sites across the Web. Through Facebook, people will also have the power to control how and which information is shared.

"Clicker brings real-time social context to our TV and movie experiences, making it easier to quickly find entertaining content and share our favorite shows with friends," said Ethan Beard, Director of Platform Partnerships, Facebook. "Clicker's integration with Facebook demonstrates how entertainment can be made more relevant, personal and exciting with friends."

"With more than 1 million shows and movies now available online, there is huge need for intelligent, personalized entertainment recommendations," said Jim Lanzone, Clicker's co-founder and CEO.  "While companies big and small have been trying to solve this problem for years, Clicker Predict comes closer than any technology to date in actually surfacing the right shows for a given user. Add in feedback from your friends, thanks to our new integration with Facebook, and there is simply no better place to discover what to watch than Clicker.com."

The engineers behind Clicker Predict were responsible for many of the original user-behavior algorithms used by major search engines to enhance relevance. With Clicker Predict, they have created a proprietary system exclusively for the world of entertainment.  While most contemporary recommendation systems are based mainly on explicit user inputs, such as ratings and purchases, Clicker Predict considers more than 50 explicit and implicit behaviors of individuals, their friends, and even kindred spirits in determining what someone will like to watch.
