Police now say no explosive devices were found in an apartment where neighbors had earlier reported smoke.New Haven Police Chief Frank Lemone told reporters Thursday that no improvised explosive devices had been found in a preliminary search, only M-80 firecrackers.

Police are continuing to search through the tenant's belongings. He had only moved in last week. The tenant is cooperating with police, Lemone added.

Firefighters responded Wednesday night to reports of smoke in the apartment and told police they found what appeared to be homemade bombs and explosive materials.
