BALTIMORE, Dec. 23, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kalahari Greentech, Inc. (Pink Sheets:KHGT) released a statement today detailing the enhancements and revenue potential of the Tri-Brid Solar Generator.

According to Robert Matthews, VP of Kalahari, "Internationally, China is expected to raise its 2020 solar power generation target to at least 10,000 MW. The Tri-Brid generator has a potential market of over 2.5 billion users in the far-east including India and China. We have received multiple inquiries internationally and see our bigger market to be foreign. Even at a selling price of $6,000 for the basic 'Tri-Brid' system unit, the current market potential for only 1 million installations is $6 billion in revenue."

Solar collector performance enhancement is possible with insulation packages including the glass tube curtain which gives the collector an enhanced R value; twice that of collectors with double glazing. These enhancements are part of the reason why the Tri-Brid collector can operate at temperatures of 200 degrees Fahrenheit, in turn, allowing the power generation system to be cost-superior to other means of generating electric power with solar energy. Unlike parabolic collectors, the collector will perform under less than clear sky conditions. The collector system is rugged and less susceptible to gusting winds. The collectors added to the wings generate electricity from the photovoltaic aspect and reflect extra sunlight into the collector. This permits the collector to operate at elevated temperatures for a longer average duration and generate power more reliably.

Kalahari representatives are in exploratory discussion with research organizations for research and licensing of next generation formulations that have even greater efficiency benefits. A series of discussions will be conducted based on successfully concluded research results.

The SEIA (Solar Energy Industries Association) report notes that the United States installed 342 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) electric power, 139 thermal megawatts (MWTh) of solar water heating, 762 MWTh of pool heating, and 21 MWTh of solar space heating and cooling in 2008 (source: ). According to a U.S. Department of Energy news release dated March 25, 2009, entitled, "Solar Energy Grew at a Record Pace in 2008," solar energy deployment increased at a record pace in the United States and throughout the world in 2008. The trend toward renewable sources of energy is growing. "Renewables accounted for 60% of newly installed capacity in Europe and more than 50% in the USA in 2009." (Source: )
