BOSTON, Dec. 29, 2010 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- So many adults make New Year's resolutions that revolve around diet, exercise and quitting unhealthy habits. All of these take an enormous amount of self-control.  It also takes self-control for both children and adults to refrain from bullying, meanness and fighting.  This year, why not make it a family exercise to learn more about self-control and use it daily?  The word self-control gets thrown around a lot but is hard to explain what it means.

Jon Oliver, author of "Lesson One: The ABCs of Life" and founder of the non-profit Lesson One, says, "We need to teach self-control in the same way we teach reading and math…through activities, discussion and practice." Oliver provides practical, easy-to-grasp, inexpensive methods for helping people of all ages become responsible and resilient. Adults and children alike can learn to use self-control to be safe, happy and healthy in 2011.

Oliver is currently available for demonstrations, interviews and in-studio appearances on how to teach self-control so, once and for all, people can make New Year's resolutions that are a part of everyday life.
