ERIE, Pa., Jan. 6, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Presque Isle Partnership (PIP) is pleased to announce the First Annual Joe Root's Frostbite Open, according to Joe Maloney, PIP President.  The event will take place Sunday, February 20, 2011 on nine holes strategically placed on the frozen waters of Presque Isle Bay. Primary sponsor of the event is Joe Root's Grill who will provide dinner at the restaurant following the event.  Contributing sponsors include UPMC Health Plan, Historic Square Agency, Printing Concepts and Silk Screen Unlimited.

Attending foursomes will receive a Joe Root's Frostbite Open sweatshirt, dinner and three colored logo golf balls. The event is limited to the first 144 golfers to register. The cost for each foursome is $200.

All proceeds benefit The Presque Isle Partnership, whose mission is to enhance the Presque Isle visitors' experience by developing, funding and implementing projects and programs on the Park, while protecting the natural environment.  Some of the projects the Partnership has developed are the Waterworks Playground, Barracks Beach Windmill, Educational Panels@Perry Monument and the Lighthouse Preservation.
