Gillette is reporting a six percent increase in fourth-quarter profits, thanks largely to stronger blade and razor sales.

The Boston-based company posted earnings of 368 million dollars, or 36 cents per share, for the three-month period ending Dec. 31. That compares to earnings of 33 cents per share in the same quarter of the previous year.

Gillette also reported record earnings for the entire year. Sales of blades and razors were up by 13 percent, while sales of the company's Duracell battery line were up by six percent.
