LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (International CES; Booth #36212-South Hall) Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENTR), a leading provider of silicon and software solutions that enable connected home entertainment, and BroadLight, the leading supplier of fiber access processors, today announced a partnership to deliver next-generation MoCA® (Multimedia over Coax) solutions to the video service provider market by bringing together best-of-breed home networking solutions to enable the delivery of a whole range of new and unparalleled connected home services. Leveraging Entropic's industry-first complete MoCA 2.0 solution with BroadLight's world class GPON (gigabit passive optical network), the two companies are aligning silicon and software solution roadmaps to develop optimized MoCA 2.0 enabled optical network terminals (ONT).

Providing 500 Mbps of MAC throughput between two nodes on a single channel or 1 Gbps of MAC throughput between channel bonded nodes, a next generation GPON ONT, powered by the combination of Entropic's MoCA 2.0 silicon with BroadLight's latest GPON processor solution, assures fiber to the home (FTTH) operators that all the bandwidth delivered to the home will not be constrained by the bandwidth of the in-home network.

"Service providers are leveraging their FTTH model to offer innovative subscriber services, many of which have high bandwidth requirements that the typical home cannot handle," said Doron Tal, vice president, Business Development and Product Marketing, BroadLight. "The pairing of the BroadLight BL23500 3rd Generation GPON processor with Entropic's newest silicon allows for unconstrained GPON bandwidth throughout the home, ensuring the capacity delivered to the home is carried throughout the entire home network."

Entropic and BroadLight have a longstanding relationship, successfully bringing to market MoCA 1.1 enabled GPON ONTs using Entropic's EN2210 and EN2510 MoCA ICs paired with BroadLight's BL2348 GPON Processor, which are widely deployed within Verizon's FiOS network, enabling high-speed broadband, video-on-demand service and other future applications on the home's existing coax cabling.

"With this continued relationship, both Entropic and BroadLight are reaffirming their dedication to bringing more bandwidth with greater speed and performance into and throughout the entire home," said Vinay Gokhale, senior vice president, Marketing and Business Development, Entropic Communications. "Our collective silicon and software solutions are pushing technology boundaries and are giving FTTH service providers opportunities to further increase ARPU and reduce churn with home networking services."

Entropic's MoCA 2.0 solution will be demonstrated in Entropic's Booth #36212, by appointment only, during CES, January 6-9, 2010, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. For more information on Entropic, visit: www.entropic.com.
